Did you know that... there are two sorts of inspections that take place in independent schools: an Educational Quality Inspection and a Regulatory Compliance inspection?
Educational Quality Inspection
The first inspection assesses the quality of the education the children receive (Education Quality Inspection) and the second assesses whether the school is compliant with the regulations for running an independent school (Regulatory Compliance Inspection). The Inspection focuses on:
- The achievement of the pupils, including their academic development, and
- The personal development of the pupils
Durlston received its last Educational Quality Inspection in May 2017. Durlston received the highest possible rating of Excellent in all areas.
Regulatory Compliance inspection
The standards represent minimum requirements and judgements are given as met or as not met, including the extent to which schools meet their responsibilities to safeguard children. This inspection checks on the school’s compliance with regulations in the following areas:
- Quality of education provided
- Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils
- Welfare, health and safety of pupils
- Suitability of staff, supply staff and proprietors
- Quality of leadership in and management of schools
Durlston underwent the Regulatory Compliance Inspection in November 2021. The inspectors were delighted with what they saw at Durlston and said that we complied with all the regulations and therefore met all the standards.
