Our impressive and extensive facilities really do offer children limitless possibilities. From Pre-Prep onwards, children have access to a full range of specialist facilities and teaching.
The light and spacious art and ceramic studios are inspirational environments in which children can explore their creativity. This two-storey dedicated building also hosts its own Art Courtyard where children can take their learning outdoors.
Pupils meet daily in the school’s beautiful Chapel. Special services and concerts are also held in this historic building. The Chapel is home to a two-manual Allen organ.
Our Design and Technology Centre was designed and built with creative engineering in mind. An inspirational facility which is fully equipped with 3D printers, laser cutter and laptops to enable CAD and CAM (Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture) to be taught alongside textiles and woodwork.
The school has a history of impressive drama productions. The use of specialist sound and lighting equipment combined with tiered seating, showcase the many talented thespians.
Our on-site Forest School, known as 'The Den', is a great place for children to explore nature whilst learning key transferable skills. Children have the opportunity to enjoy pond dipping, an open fire for cooking, mud kitchen, den building area, sawing and drilling tools and much more!
Children use the specially equipped ‘Galley’ for cookery clubs and when learning about food as part of the curriculum, for example following recipes or thinking about Healthy Eating.
Durlston Court has a fully equipped, networked IT suite. Additionally, we have a bank of laptops and Chromebooks as well as interactive resources in each classroom.
Kindergarten is one large, happy and purposeful environment where the children flow freely between indoors and outdoors. A huge range of activities are available, all carefully designed to stimulate learning and promote communication.
‘The Lighthouse’ is centrally located in the main school building and offers an ideal surrounding when dedicated support is required.
The Libraries are learning and pastoral hubs at Durlston. They are well resourced and enable children to develop a passion for books and reading. The inclusion of comfortable chairs, magazines, board games and audio books also help to make the library a popular place for children to gather and socialise at break times.
Our purpose built Music School provides a creative venue for class lessons, termly concerts and recitals. Our main classroom has been acoustically designed providing an ideal concert venue. Additionally, our 10 practice and teaching rooms allow Durlston children to take individual tuition and can also be used at lunch and break time with friends. With 13 pianos (including 2 grand pianos), 2 full size drum kits and an extensive stock of orchestral and other instruments, the Music School offers limitless possibilities.
A bright, stimulating home for our young children. In addition to spacious classrooms, Pre-Prep has its own library and hall with a stage. Dedicated outdoor areas include an adventure playground, role-play boat, secret garden and amphitheatre.
The purpose built laboratory is used by pupils from Year 5 upwards. It is a fully equipped, safe environment where children can undertake practical experiments and investigations.
Our extensive sports facilities are used on a daily basis by children from across the school. These include multi-purpose hard courts for netball and tennis, a heated outdoor swimming pool with changing rooms and showers, an all-weather flood lit astro turf for hockey, football and tennis, a well-equipped sports hall used for gymnastics, dance and other indoor sports, ample playing fields equipped for rugby, football, cricket, rounders and athletics and changing rooms with showers. There is also separate kit storage for each child.
