PASTORAL CARE
The pastoral care at Durlston is one of its many strengths. We work hard to keep communication between home and school open to ensure that we all work together for the benefit and well-being of our pupils.

When a pupil enters the school, we ask Parents to complete a medical questionnaire. Any health or dietary problems are notified to staff and they are kept informed of any changes. Medicines may be brought in to our Reception staff to administer, provided that they are clearly labelled. Any special dietary needs may be discussed with our Catering Manager, whether they be ongoing or just while a child is recovering from illness.

We do urge Parents to keep us informed of any home issues that might affect their children at school, such as a sick pet or a poorly relative. If a pupil is ill at school we notify Parents as soon as possible and arrange for them to be collected, if appropriate. We have arranged for the School Nursing Service to carry out routine medicals checks for our pupils, as specified by the local health authority. They also help teaching staff with certain aspects of the health education programme.

CHAPEL
Pupils meet daily in the school's beautiful Chapel. There is a strong Christian ethos within the school, creating a positive, caring atmosphere throughout our community. A well-structured Pastoral Care system ensures that all children have someone with whom they can share concerns.
