SPORTS DEPARTMENT

Durlston Court School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 2-13, in Barton on Sea near the New Forest.

Games are played on four days of the week. Inter-school matches are arranged on Wednesdays and some Saturdays. Children begin to represent the school from Y3/Y4 onwards, and A and B team fixtures are arranged, when possible, in most age groups to give children the opportunity of representing the school.

In the winter and spring terms, boys play Soccer, Rugby Football and Hockey and girls play Netball and Hockey. In the summer term boys play Cricket and the girls play Rounders. All pupils are also involved in Swimming, Athletics and Tennis.

A separate Physical Education programme operates within the curriculum, teaching gymnastics, basketball, badminton, swimming, tennis, cross-country, dance, and health related fitness.

It is the aim of the Director of Sport to broaden the curriculum still further and adding to the already excellent sports facilities.

Parents are encouraged to support their children at any school match, and there is always afternoon tea for everyone to enjoy following these events.

A wide range of extra-curricular sports clubs are on offer after school.
