School Council
History of the School Council
‘Feel that you belong to the school and that the school belongs to you.’ The school council started in 2005 and the first meeting was in January: the first suggestion was from Bella Rolph then in 3T-a friendship bench at break times and blackcurrant juice in the dining room at lunch... Since then we have had many, many different ideas, suggestions and initiatives. We do try to put into place as many as we can but obviously this is not always possible. It is, however, worth making suggestions. Successes- all these have been put into place over the past few years: • wider choices of low tea drinks; • no lining up after morning break; • vinegar on Fridays with fish and chips; • water bottles allowed in classrooms; • clock in the science room; honey sandwiches; • recycling paper bins in every room; • benches by the adventure playground; • return of chicken vol-au-vents; • wet break games; • cycle racks for bikes; • horizontal climbing wall; • outside clock; • fruit every day for low tea; • return of badminton club and cycling proficiency; • ‘best of both’ bread in sandwiches; • interactive white board in the music school; • small shoe lockers in the changing rooms; • outdoor games such as chess/and Jenga; • updated girls’ sports kit; • painted cricket stumps for break times; • prize for highest weekly credit scorer in each house; • food ‘specials’ board; • taking a hot pudding once you have eaten your main course; • school rough note book; • window on the boot room door; • clock in the senior common room; • new pizza options- ham and pineapple; • benches in the car park shelter; • showers in the girls’ changing room; • refurbished year7 and 8 common room... All directly from school council suggestions! School Council Representatives 2011 - 2012 Class elections have now taken place and I am pleased to announce that the school councillors for this academic year are: 3G- Kira Collard 4L- Alfie Hynett 5C- Kira Morton 6V- James Miller 7C- Liam Willis 8R- Zak Milner
