R.S. in the Senior School Years 6-8

In R.S. we follow the 2008 Common Entrance syllabus which comprises of biblical studies, contemporary issues and world religions.

Religious studies has a dedicated one hour lesson per week. Many topics are additionally referenced and supported through daily Chapel Service Themes.

Durlston Court is a Christian school with its own Chapel. The R.S. department is a major contributor to the moral, social and personal development and citizenship curriculum of the school.

Aims

·  To study the Bible texts belonging to the Jewish and Christian faiths;

·  To acquire knowledge of and develop understanding of the beliefs, values and traditions associated with the six major world faiths;

·  To consider the influence of beliefs, values and traditions associated with other religions;

·  To consider religious and other responses to moral issues;

·  To identify, investigate and respond to fundamental questions of life raised by religion and human experience;

·  To develop skills relevant to the study of religion.
