MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Middle School ethos is to develop a confident, well-rounded child who is happy and well motivated in all activities. The Middle School consists of National Curriculum years 3, 4 and 5. Most of the lessons are classroom based with a form teacher, although the children are introduced to specialist teachers for French, Art, Design Technology, Music, PE, Games, and Information Communication Technology from year 3. Children are set in Maths and English from Year 4, with staff working in close collaboration with departmental heads. The childrens progress in both literacy and numeracy is monitored very closely with standardised testing and Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Optional testing in years 3,4 and 5. There is one-to-one support from the Learning Support Unit in Numeracy and Literacy. In addition the LSU offers small group support in Literacy. Help is also provided by a fully qualified teacher working as a classroom assistant. The teaching staff also run weekly holiday activities for our pupils. On site activities include a variety of Sport, Cookery, fun French, art and craft, nature trails and I.T. Days out include visits to Moors Valley Country Park, Poultons Park, Thorpe Park, Monkey World, Playzone, Historic Portsmouth, ice skating, cinema, bowling, quasar. Please see Mr. Cole or Mrs Jones for further information.
