Welcome to the Humanities Department
In Humanities we study the past and the present. We look at current social issues and we discover traditions on a local to global scale. Humanities subjects contribute greatly to cultural, social, moral and spiritual development and are considered very important.
During their time at the school pupils develop their own views and values based on a secure framework. They are encouraged to ask challenging questions and develop their sense of identity and belonging.
Humanities prepares pupils for the future, equipping them with knowledge and skills that are prized in adult life.
Humanities is taught by form teachers in years 3 to 5. It is then taught by myself and Mr. Bob Cole in years 6, 7, and 8 as three separate subjects. Years 7 and 8 are taught in sets and individual support from the LSU (Learning Support Unit) is provided where appropriate.
