Art

We have high expectations at Durlston Court and are ambitious for all our children in Art and Design. Through a variety of activities we aim to provide plenty of opportunities for experimentation, exploration and FUN!

A wide range of Art & Design activites are experienced including observational drawing, painting, printmaking, 3D/sculpture, pottery, textiles and mixed media/collage.

As well as timetabled art lessons, children may also volunteer for Art Club and further art activites throughout the week. Art scholars work hard to achieve awards at many schools including Canford, Clifton, Claysmore, Dauntsey's, Millfield, Roedean, Sherborne and many more.

Art & Design is an important part of the curriculum at Durlston Court as it provides a unique means of learning, understanding and communicating. Art stresses divergent and creative thinking, as in all artwork there are many possible solutions and children must consider many viewpoints.

At Durlston Court we also begin to develop knowledge and understanding of some of the world's artistic and cultural heritage through the teaching of art history and visits to local galleries.
