Welcome to the Art & Design Department

Pupils sketching outside during art class at Durlston Court School.

Art and Design at Durlston Court is about creativity and fun!

Paint doesnt just end up on the paper during art lessons at Durlston Court School.

Children have the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities in their weekly lessons including drawing, painting, printing, sculpting, pottery, textiles and mixed media.

Pupils expand their creativity during art lessons.

As well as timetabled lessons, children may also volunteer for further Art clubs and activities throughout the week.

The Art and Design Department regularly takes part in external exhibitions and competitions, giving the children the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience. A whole school Art exhibition in the summer term 2011 will celebrate a year of hard work from all of the pupils.

One of the many themed art exercises that the children enjoy.

The pre-prep and middle school children regularly experience Art activities as part of their themed days, which last year included workshops on Monet’s garden and felt making.
