Academic Success 2006/07

Durlston Court’s Academic Reputation has certainly been upheld this year.  We congratulate Ibrahim Chughtai and Adrian Ellis, on their 11+ success to King Edward VI, Southampton, and Christian Wood, Simon Ellis, Florence Coath and Sophie Edmonds on passing the Bournemouth Grammar School examinations at 11+.

At 13+ entry, we are delighted to congratulate Georgia Leach (joint Head Girl) on her Academic and Music scholarships to Canford School; Charlotte Barker (joint Head Girl) on her impressive scholarship performance, securing her an unconditional place at Canford; Partick White on his Academic Scholarship to King Edward VI, Southampton; Magnus McGrigor (Head Boy), on his Herbert Windler All Round Exhibition at Marlborough College and Chester Allen on his Sports Scholarship to Clayesmore School.

All 7, of our Year 8 candidates were successful in securing places at King Edward VI, Southampton (13+).  100% success.  Many congratulations to Patrick White, Philipp Antonas, William Thompson, Julian Osei-Bonsu, Warren Muggleston, Garrison Barrilleaux and Zoe Utton.   All of our Year 8 pupils were successful in passing Common Entrance exams to their first choice schools, which this year included Bryanston, Marlborough College, Hampshire Collegiate, Ballard  and Canford.

Congratulations also to eight members of Year 8 who entered the National Junior Maths Challenge.  Alexander Chown and Philipp Antonas gained Bronze certificates, equating to the top 14% of mathematicians nationally; Julian Osei-Bonsu on his Silver certificate, equating to the top 9% nationally and to Jake Smith, Charlotte Barker, Patrick White, Georgia Leach and William Thompson who were all recipients of the Gold certificate, equating to the top 2% nationally.  In addition, William Thompson qualified for the Mathematical Olympiad, the next stage of the competition due to his outstanding performance on his paper.
